October 2006

As we move into December, usually the weather is cooler with weekly fronts, and the fishing begins to really heat up. Trout are on there annual migration north, closer to the Marina's. Full boxes of Speckled Trout, and Redfish are eager to bite in preparation for winter! The trout are much larger and and in abundance in November. Call now to book your trip!

So give us a call Toll-Free 1-877-689-4120 and Let's Go Fishing! Capt. EJ

October 28, 2006 - Had 4 boats out today on what seemed like the worst day to fish this year. All the customers fished hard and made the best of a WINDY and COLD day. Today was the day that really classifies this sport as fishing, not catching. 6 Reds, 3 Trout, and 1 Drum made it back to the dock. With lots of trash fish thrown back. Bait for the day was shrimp on the bottom, and shrimp under a cork. Not a photo kind of a day. Thanks to all of the customers that stuck with it and fished every minute.

October 25, 2006 - Wednesday, left the dock at 6:30 heading back to the trout hole and it was on again. My guest Bob and Carl from Laplace didn't waste any time putting their limits in the boat. We also had a red and a drum for a kicker. Should be another good day tomorrow if the weather holds. Conditions: light winds, overcast. Bait; glow beetle's under a cork.

October 24, 2006 - Tuesday, my last day with Steve, Tim  and Dave turned ou to be our best day. After the rough weather we had Sunday and Monday , Tuesday turned out to be awesome. The guys boated over 100 trout in a couple of hours, it took 8 hours to catch 20 on Monday. What a difference a day makes. Bait: glow beetles under a cork

October 23, 2006 - Its great to hang all those redfish on the board when its good, but you have to put the bad days up there also. Three boats out today, Capt. Mike, Capt. Bob and myself. 33 fish between three boats. The conditions were as tough as its gets, water has fallen over a foot.. The reds were caught on shrimp under a cork and the trout, glow beetle's under a cork. I have the same crew out tomorrow and it doesn't look any better. Here is a few pictures of today's catch.

October 22, 2006 - Today was day one of three with the guys from Kansas City. The front has roared thru, and in it's wake it left terrible conditions. I think today it would have been to windy for sailing. Ended day with a decent (for the conditions) catch. 15 trout and 1 red with a couple throwbacks.

October 21, 2006 - Three boats out on Saturday. Capt. Ryan had the Haddad Party. Capt. Kevin had George and Peter Koclanes and I had Eric, William and David from Mississippi. All of the boats had a box of fish mostly reds with a few trout as a kicker. Conditions: cloudy and windy. Bait: glow beetles under a cork and shrimp under a cork. Out again tomorrow with my yearly crew from Kansas City.

October 20, 2006 - Friday's trip with the Jeremy Shows group, Randall, Thomas, Shelton and Jeremy. First few stops produced only a few small trout and reds. We were on our way to little lake when I received a call from Capt. Joe and it was off to the honey hole. With 3 or 4 on at a time it didn't take long to put a limit of reds in the boat. Conditions: overcast and windy. Bait: shrimp under a cork.

October 18, 2006 - If only we could have weekends with the conditions of the weekdays. My guest today Larry and John from Indiana found the action hard to believe. We even had some fish in the 16 to 18 inch range, nice trout. After catching their limits and more it was off to clean a few for lunch at Jan's. My kind of trip, just keeping enough for lunch. Conditions: overcast with a little light rain, light winds. Bait: purple/char cocahoe`s on the bottom.

October 13-15, 2006 - It looks like we are not going to get any breaks on the weekend's, another front is forecast for Friday. Lets hope its not as severe as this last one. Friday, Saturday and Sunday proved to be tough fishing days. The Shows group on Friday, the Ellis family on Saturday and the Reynolds and Chosa parties on Sunday. We averaged about 25 fish per group for the three days, a far cry from Tuesday's trout slam, but that's fishing. Conditions: very windy, but we did find clean water,

Bait: most fish were caught on glow beetle's under a cork with only a few being caught tight lining.

October 10, 2006 - Tuesday turned out to be nothing like the weekend. Today it was like fishing in a barrel, a really big barrel with lots of fish. Capt. Mike had Billy, Harley, Jeff and Jonathan, a group of guys from up north doing electrical work down here. My clients Mark an Todd are a couple local guys. 150 trout, if only it was that easy all the time. Todd had the big fish of the day with a 31 inch goldfish, (redfish) Conditions: awesome, I`am sure I won`t be saying that on Friday. Bait: purple/char. Cocahoe`s on the bottom.

October 6-8, 2006 - Tough weekend here in Lafitte. The front that came through didn't leave us with many options. Saturday I had the Chuck Zinner group and Capt. Mike had the Phil Bernard group. 8 keeper trout and 5 nice bass was our total for the day. Capt. Mike had a dozen trout and 1 redfish. Not enough for taking a picture. On Sunday I had to go to Mississippi , so Capt. Tommy fished the Steve Burgamy group. Fishing was some what better on Sunday. 30 trout and 3 reds for their effort. Another front arrives on Thursday so who knows what this weekend will bring. Out tomorrow, hopefully I`ll have a better report. Capt. E.J.

October 3, 2006 - Tuesday's trip with Don and Bob. Left the dock around 6:15, the first foggy morning I've seen this year. Lots of little fish at our first stop, but after a short move it didn`t take long to put their limit in the boat. Back at the dock before 11. Conditions: Light NE winds, overcast. Bait: H&H cocahoe`s Purple/char, Glow/char. Another great day on the water.

September 29 - 30, 2006 - On Friday I fished the Rowan group. On Saturday Capt. Joe had the Mike Chandler group and I had Dr. Jim Brown And his two sons Andrew and John Paul. The past few days the fishing has been just awesome in Lafitte, especially if you are a trout fisherman. If we don`t have any major weather changes fishing should be great the next few months. Conditions have been perfect the last few days and the fish have been hitting on just about any color that we have thrown. Under a cork or on the bottom, it really doesn't matter. This is the time to get out there
and catch a few. Capt. E.J.
