November 30, 2007 - Left the dock 6:15am. When we arrived at our first spot the tide was still coming in. The fish bite was very good until the tide stopped moving and the bite slowed down for an hour or so. Once the tide turned around and started falling it was non stop, 75 keepers, some up to 20 inches, and that many more we threw back. Capt. Mike and Capt. Bobby also had a box of trout with a few reds and bass as a kicker. Out again tomorrow, should be another good day.

November 23 -29, 2007 - Sorry for the delay with the reports this week folks. But now that hunting season is here, I try to spend as much time as I can at the deer camp in Mississippi chasing those crazy whitetails. Here is a little recap of the post turkey day fishing scene down here in Lafitte. Had the Carl Steinkamp party, and Steve Wilken party. Carl's group fished on one of those right after the front days, windy and cold and as hard as we fished, we could only manage 20 keeper fish for our efforts. Another trip this week was with the Steve Wilken party and they hit it on the right day. Yesterday we caught fish everywhere we went. They weren't keeping any fish so we released more than 75 to fight another day. Hopefully they are still around for tomorrow. I'll try to post this weekends trips as I do them. Other trips this week also produced some very fine catches of limits or near limits on trout. The reds are still around. Key note: Just have to fish the good days. Cold, Windy days after the fronts are tough, and 3-5 days after fronts have been just awesome.

November 22, 2007 - To all of our clients, family, and friends, we hope you have a safe and wonderful holiday!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

November 15 - 20, 2007 - This weekend started of slow, but ended really hot. Capt. Kevin fished with Capt. Bobby and they had a real good group from the New Orleans and Baton Rouge area. After the front rolled through last Thursday with 30+ mph wind, it really put a hurting on the water clarity. The goal for Saturday was find the clean water, and that is what they did. After fishing 7-8 spots, they ended up in the Pen, where they finally got on a good trout bite, and ended the day with over 50 trout. Capt. Barry and I fished a great crew that was staying at the Victorian Inn. We picked them up early, and headed straight for the marshes and canals. We also had more than 50 trout, a couple reds, and a flounder. There is another front scheduled for Thursday, so this weekend appears to be run and gun again. Sunday and Monday were much more productive since the water was had gotten cleared up. There are plenty trout in the PEN, Salvador, Rigolets, Little Lake, Bay L'ours, and Brussels Lake. On those nice foggy, humid days, you can fish any one of them and really do some damage to the trout population. Days after the front, North Side of Little Lake, and Bay L'our, and the Texaco are your best bets. All fish have been caught on Beetles tight lined, tipped with shrimp, Beetles under a cork, and dead shrimp on the bottom for the reds!

November 12 - 14, 2007 - Fished the last three days with Capt. Bobby's gang from Texas. With three days of beautiful weather, and a red hot trout bite, these seven anglers in 2 boats managed over 40GALLONS of mostly trout fillets to take back to Texas. Just about all of the redfish were released to fight another day. Glow beetle's under a cork and dark or purple chart/tail cocahoes on the bottom did the trout in. Just a fantastic 3 days of fishing.

November 9-11, 2007 - What a weekend! With the warmer than normal weather, flat calm water, and an insane speckled trout bite, I would have to rate this weekend a 10+. Every groups this weekend caught all the fish they could handle, and all went home with tons of fresh filets. The Shackleford, Lex Brignac, and Stewart Construction groups all easily limited out early with a few reds and flounders mixed in. The water in the area bays are really clean, and there is a ton of bait out there. Nothing but small fish under the birds, so working the points with bait popping was the keys to our success. We caught fish in every direction, and mostly all of them fell to a glow beetle under a popping cork, or a black and chartreuse cochahoe bounced on the bottom. The weather should remain constant the rest of the week, so I don't foresee any change in the great fishing until the next front rolls through on Thursday. I hope my electric knife is up for the challenge.
