January 24, 2007 - Been a while since my last report. Not much going on with all of the bad weather we have been having over the last 10 days. It was shocking not to see the sun in that many days. Today the weather is sunny, but still a little brisk out, with a north wind. More rain is in the forecast for the weekend, so I am not sure how much fishing we will be able to do over the next week. Hopefully the summer will get here soon. Here are a few pictures of a recent trip and swamp tour with the McMurdie family . Check out the prehistoric catfish.

January 9 - 11, 2007 - John and Larry had fished with me last January and were back to try their luck again. John has a dairy farm with 900 cows, boy that's a lot of cows. Day one was Tuesday, a lot of riding around for a dozen or so fish. Day two started off slow but we managed to find some fish around 11am and left them biting. Day three turned out to be our best day returning to where we had left them yesterday , 60 plus trout and 3 reds with 40 keepers. Conditions : cold and windy the first two days with much improvement today. Bait glow beetle`s under a cork and today's hot bait, a smoke and Char/tail grub on the bottom.

January 5 - 8, 2007 - Beth, Joe and John with mess of trout for dinner. It was just a  short Saturday afternoon trip. Beth and John had fished with me this time last year and once again John wanted a fishing trip for his birthday. All fish were caught using glow beetle`s under a cork. Capt. Joe, Capt. Mike and Capt. Bobby had a bachelor party out at 11:30, 90 plus trout for the three boats . I also fished Jack Read and his grandson Partick in the morning, 25 trout was our catch in the AM. Glow beetle's under a cork. Weather: cloudy, foggy and wet. I have a busy week coming up, hopefully we will have some nice weather. If the party from the bachelor party has some pics, please send them to kevin@jeanlafittecharters.com . I will try to get the other parties pics posted soon. Had a weird format, and had trouble posting. Thanks!

December 30, 2006 - Once again I am playing catch up with these reports. With the rut going on at this time I am trying to spend as much time as I can in the woods. Here are a few trips from the end of last week.  Capt. Mike had the Hackdarth`s on Wednesday, Karen and Wilson Liptrap on Thursday and I had The Crutchfield`s  Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday the only thing we caught was redfish, but Thursday with a little warmer weather the trout turned on. 25 reds Wednesday, 53 trout Thursday between both boats. Beetle's with a shrimp chaser for the reds and glow beetle's under a cork for the trout.

December 28 - 29, 2006 - Bob Crutchfield and his son joined me the last 2 days. The trout bite was nowhere to be found the first day, but we did manage 18 or 20 reds. Here's bob with one of the bronze beauties we caught yesterday. Beetle's with a shrimp chaser was the ticket yesterday. Conditions: Near freezing temps, ok water clarity, sunny skies.

Today was day 2 with this party. We hit the trout early, keeping over 25, then the trout just turned off. The wind began to blow as we started trolling the banks in search of some reds. Ended the day with a really nice box of fish. Fun group to fish.

December 21 - 27, 2006 - The Gusich party and the Morgan party all fished with Capt. Kevin and I over the weekend . Here are a few pictures of their catches. With hunting season in full swing I am trying to get caught up on some of these reports. Saturday was very tough fishing after the passage of a cold front the night before. After a couple hours of bouncing from spot to spot, we ended up right where we started. The bite came at about 11am after the wind decided to lay down, and temps warmed up a bit. The Gusich party ended the day catching about 50 fish total keeping 35, and the Morgan party caught 45 or so keeping 28. Good results for a bad weather day.
