August 2006

In August warmer temperatures are in full swing and the bite is not far behind it. Redfish are thick in the ponds and they are very aggressive. And the trout are usually on FIRE!

So give us a call Toll-Free 1-877-689-4120 and Let's Go Fishing! Capt. EJ

August 29, 2006 - Wednesday I fished with Jan and Bruce from Mississippi. They were staying at the Victoria Inn here in Lafitte. We left the dock a little after six with a northwest already blowing and by noon it was whitecaps in most areas. Today was not meant to be, the first three keeper reds we had on all broke off, but all of the small ones all made it to the boat. Finally Jan caught her first keeper redfish and also a few more to go along with it, 10 keeper trout also made it to the box. Even with this front moving in it turned out to be a fairly good day. Nice weather and nice people made it that way. Bait; purple/char, smoke/char cocahoe`s on the bottom and shrimp under a cork.

August 26, 2006 - Fished today for Capt. Mike who needed a hand with a large group. Met up with a real nice bunch and we headed off for some reds in the ponds near Myrtle Grove. After a short trip, we ended the day with near limits of reds, and a couple trout.

August 25, 2006 - Every now and then I enjoy doing some fresh water fishing. Thursday afternoon Henry Bourgeois and I headed for the bass fishing ground. It was rather slow early, but things picked up just before dark. Here`s Henry with a couple of the green beauties we caught. All fish fell to red shad curly tail 6" worms.

August 21, 2006 - Bill and Sylvia Furlong have fished with me many times before. Some trips have been great and some have been a struggle. They prefer to fish trout rather than red fish so today it was off to try and find some trout. The trout were plenty but the keepers were few, just enough for a couple of fish fry`s.

August 20, 2006 - Capt. Mike`s crew for Sunday had a great time catching redfish out in the marsh. Most of their fish were caught on spinner baits, black/char, purple/char. Great job Mike.

August 19, 2006 - Capt. Bob`s crew for Saturday, Rodney Dietrich and his son Brett managed to catch a nice mess of fish for dinner. Their fish were caught tight lining salt&pepper char/tail minnows fishing duck ponds.

August 17, 2006 - Had the pleasure of fishing today with the King Quale family from Stewartville, MN. That's way up north for us guys. Rick, Debbie and their boys Ben and A.J. had a great day on the water. They caught lady fish, hard heads, croaker, a nice mess of reds and what they really got a kick out of was the needle gar. Today was a cork and shrimp day which made it easy for the kids and the reason for all the variety. Conditions: sunny and hot with a nice breez, water is still low for this time of year, but in the areas we fished it was very clean. Still havean opening for Saturday. Capt. E.J.

August 14, 2006 - The Davis family with a couple of nice redfish. A tough day on the water. A few reds , a handfull of keeper trout, a few throwbacks. Not much bragging going on today. Spinner baits and popping corks were the bait of the day.

August 13, 2006 - Capt. Bobby with his crew of Sheri, Tommy, Payton and Parker. They had 23 keeper trout and 1 redfish and were back at the dock by 10am. It was just too hot to stay any longer. All of their fish were caught tight lining salt and pepper char/tail minnows.

August 12, 2006 - My clients for Saturday 8-12, Cal Lemoine and his son Adam joined me. This was their first Lafitte charter fishing trip and with the results for the day I`am sure I`ll see them again. Cal mentioned that he had never caught a limit of anything. Today we put that to rest with a limit of reds, a mess of trout, bass and a few flounder. Conditions: very hot, light winds, with the heat you have got to be their early, its usually over by 11 . Bait: spinners with purple/char. Cocahoe`s

August 8, 2006 - Capt. Mike with Tuesday`s guest Add and Shelly with a nice limit of redfish. Spinners, spoons and cocahoe`s on the bottom were the baits of the day.

August 7, 2006 - Capt. E.J `s vacation.  The Crystal River in Marble, Co. If we had our fishing and their scenery we would be fishing in heaven. Spent five days in Marble, my wife's childhood hometown, population 86, elevation 9 to 12 thousand feet, that's two miles high. If you ever want to see some of the most beautiful country you have ever seen. Jeep tours, horseback riding and fishing, I highly recommend this place.  High 40`s in the morning and low 80`s during the day, in August.

The dream is over and now its back to the high 90`s and 100% humidity. Capt. Mike and Capt Bobby fished for me while I was gone. I should have some reports and pictures up in the next few days.

August 5, 2006 - Looks like a fine day fishing. That are so mighty big smiles. Hope ya'll had a trip to remember, sure looks like it.

August 4, 2006 - Another fine day with Capt. Mike. Gorgeous Red. Great Job.

August 3, 2006 - Some nice trout caught with Capt. Mike

August 2, 2006 - What a nice red caught with Capt. Mike

Captain EJ is on VACATION in Colorado until the 8th of August. Will post pictures of the trips that Capt. Mike, Capt. Bobby and Capt. Joe were kind enough to take for us.
